    Important Facts
    St. Ann

Known as the garden parish, St. Ann’s coastline, fringed by picture perfect beaches or rugged rocky coves undulates over the luxuriant, green hills and valleys to the cool interior. The Spanish settled and build Sevilla la Nueva (New Seville), the first Spanish capital of Jamaica. The capital was later moved to Spanish Town in St. Catherine. In 1860, Watt Town became home of Jamaica’s first native religion –Revival. An important bauxite mining area, the parish is the birthplace of international reggae icon, Bob Marley, and black activist, philosopher and National Hero, the Rt. Excellent Marcus Garvey.
